Margaret Celebrates Her Remarkable 100th Birthday Milestone

Residents, staff, family and friends at Springvale Care Home recently came together to celebrate a very special milestone as resident Margaret Dick Price marked her 100th birthday.
Margaret was born on 7 June 1926 in Bankfoot, near Perth, and grew up alongside her two sisters and brother. As a young woman, she worked at the local post office, delivering telegrams within her community.
In 1946, Margaret married David Price and became Margaret Dick Price. The couple moved to Kirkintilloch in East Dunbartonshire, where Margaret would spend much of her life raising their family. She became a devoted mother to five children, four boys and one girl, and later worked at Woodilee Hospital until her retirement.

Reflecting on a century of memories, Margaret fondly recalls a life filled with family, friendship and community. She particularly enjoyed playing bowls with her daughter, Margaret, and treasured visits to Inverness and Belfast to spend time with relatives.

When asked about reaching the incredible age of 100, Margaret admits she can hardly believe it herself. Looking back, she considers her greatest achievement to be her family, including her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is especially proud of raising her family independently and maintaining her strong sense of determination throughout her life.
Margaret joined Springvale Care Home in 2023 and has continued to enjoy a busy and fulfilling lifestyle. She values maintaining close relationships with family and friends while also building new friendships within the home.

Margaret and her daughter, Margaret Jnr, have a light-hearted explanation for her longevity: "Sheer stubbornness and the odd tipple along the way!"
To mark the occasion, Springvale Care Home organised a special birthday celebration for Margaret, bringing together loved ones, fellow residents and team members to honour her remarkable life and century of memories.
Home Manager, Stephanie Wylie said: "It has been a privilege to celebrate Margaret's 100th birthday with her family and friends. She is a much-loved resident whose warmth, independence and wonderful sense of humour inspire everyone around her. We are delighted to have shared this very special day with her and to celebrate such an incredible milestone."
