What’s in the Area Around Springvale Care Home?

A huge draw to the Lennoxtown area is, of course, Lennox Castle and the history behind it. David Hamilton was commissioned by John Lennox Kincaid, the leader of the local Clan Kincaid, to design and build Lennox Castle between 1837 and 1841. Lennox Castle was then utilised as a maternity and mental hospital when it was sold in 1927 until 2002 when it was destroyed by fire. Part of the mediaeval castle grounds now houses Celtic Football Club’s modern training facility, which is once again, a very big draw for many of our more sport-focused residents.

The Campsie High Kirk, a gothic-style structure designed by Glasgow architect (once again) David Hamilton and completed in 1828, was regrettably destroyed by fire in the 1980s and today stands in ruins. A Schoenstatt retreat centre has also been established in Lennoxtown, which seems to be another huge draw for tourists, and is fantastic to visit if you’re not feeling quite as you should. Whitefield Pond, located directly below the Campsie Fells, is a famous fishing area that many keen fishermen and women flock from all across the UK to visit.

Glasgow city centre is only 30 minutes away from Springvale Care Home via car, so if our residents would like to undergo a little retail therapy or grab a bite to eat with their nearest and dearest amongst the dazzling city lights, then they are more than welcome to do so. Of course, the city centre can also be reached via various regular public transport links if that’s how our residents would prefer to travel. Glasgow Fort Shopping Centre is a Springvale favourite, both amongst residents, their friends and families, and our friendly teams.

There are plenty of events that happen all around the Springvale Care Home area, what with Lennoxtown being connected to a number of larger, busier cities. Of course, if you’re looking for a plethora of events and activities to attend, we recommend heading into Glasgow City Centre first and foremost. However, in the smaller surrounding villages and towns such as Bishopbriggs and Strathblane, there are also lots of things to see and do that many often miss out on.
