From Care Home to Celebration: A Heartwarming Journey to a Grandson’s Wedding

Here at Springvale Care Home, we think its important to encourage our residents to achieve their goals; living in a care home doesn't mean you have to let go of the things you want to achieve in life.

We were approached by Mrs B's family to discuss her attendance of her grandsons wedding and we were all ecstatic by this! We all got together and discussed what the aim and outcome for Mrs B would be and how as a team we could support her to be able to achieve it.

It was a great team effort from everyone here at Springvale Care Home in Lennoxtown. We started the day off with a pamper session for Mrs B, the care staff provided her with a relaxing facial followed by getting her nails done. Our on-site hairdresser attended to her on the day of the wedding where she could get her hair done and feel beautiful. The rest of the care team helped Mrs B get dressed for this special occasion.

Our activities staff team were also helping out where they could, they came during the evening where they escorted her to the wedding - as you can see from the photos, she had a wonderful evening!

We're passionate about supporting our residents to achieve their goals within a care setting, especially special, memorable events like this one. This whole experience was great for Mrs B, it promotes independence, purpose and confidence for herself and other residents to show they can continue reaching their goals.
