The health of everyone living and working at Springvale Care Home is our top priority and we want to ensure that we all remain as safe as possible from the risks of COVID-19. We continue to follow guidance and legislation as issued by the Government and key sector bodies and we are committed to keeping our residents, their families, and our staff well-informed at all times.

Despite COVID-19, we have worked hard to implement policies and procedures that provide a level of reassurance for all residents and visitors to the home.

At Springvale Care Home, we continue to use Personal Protective Equipment and hand hygiene products and all of our staff follow infection prevention and control measures.

We also acknowledge the importance of keeping up to date and complying with official advice and guidance provided by the Health and Social Care Partnerships. We continue to advise that our residents and team members remain up to date with all available vaccinations and boosters for both COVID-19 and flu and where cases do occur, we have an effective system for recording cases and taking appropriate action to keep any cases as contained as possible.

Staying Connected

Springvale Care Home is committed to ensuring that our residents keep connected with their loved ones and the local community. We continue to assist our residents to temporarily leave our care home for day trips and overnight stays. To allow us to do this, residents will be required to undertake an individual risk assessment which includes the use of respiratory screening questions upon returning to the home. There is no requirement for testing and isolation for individuals who temporarily leave the home but to ensure everyone’s safety, we do encourage our residents to keep up with vaccinations for day trips and overnight stays.

If our home becomes restricted, we can provide our residents with online devices to enable our residents to video call their friends and family, and stay connected. We understand the importance that human connection and participation in activities provide for our resident’s mental and physical well-being.

COVID-19 FAQs

We understand the importance of keeping our residents, their families, and our staff safe from COVID-19. At Deeside Care Home, we are always happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Here are the FAQs regarding COVID-19. 

Since 14 September 2022, the guidance to wear a face mask when visiting a care home in Scotland stopped. This means that you are no longer required to wear a mask when visiting a loved one in a care home. However, if you would prefer to continue wearing a mask during your visits, then you will be supported. There may also be occasions when a care home requests visitors to wear a mask, such as during an outbreak in the home.

During an outbreak, there may be risk assessments carried out to include but are not limited to the control of visiting arrangements, admissions to the home, and the use of communal areas for a period of time. We work closely with local and national agencies in accordance with local agreements and guidance. For more information please contact our Home Manager directly.

When transferring from the community or another care home a person does not need to isolate if the circumstances at the care home / interim care facility from which the person has transferred are known.

If the resident is symptomatic or has been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, then they should isolate and perform two LFT tests on day (0), and again on day (2). Isolation can end following two negative tests.

If the resident tests positive in the home, they must be isolated for 5 days. The resident can then return to their normal activities if they feel well and do not have a high temperature (without the use of medication paracetamol).

Residents who test positive should avoid contact with other people who are eligible for COVID-19 treatments for 10 days after a positive test. Residents unable to take the test should isolate for 5 days.
